This playful and healthy Halloween snack mimics the look of candy corn, but is made entirely from fresh fruit! These vibrant fruit skewers are perfect for kids' parties or a spooky-themed snack table.
Ingredients
-
1 Elefante Green Gold™ Pineapple
-
1 Charentais Melon (or cantaloupe)
-
1 Honeyglow® Pineapple (for a deep yellow base)
-
Skewers or toothpicks
Directions
Elefante Green Gold™ Pineapple (Top Layer): Peel and cut the pineapple into triangular pieces. This will serve as the top white-ish layer of your candy corn.
Charentais Melon (Middle Layer): Cut the melon in half, scoop out the seeds, and slice the flesh into triangular pieces slightly larger than the pineapple pieces. Trim off the top point so that the white pineapple can sit on top.
Honeyglow® Pineapple (Bottom Layer): Peel and slice this pineapple into triangular pieces that will be slightly larger than the Charentais Melon pieces. Trim off the top point to create the base of your candy corn.
To assemble, take a skewer or toothpick and carefully stack the fruit pieces. Start with the Honeyglow® Pineapple on the bottom, then add the Charentais Melon in the middle, and finish with the Elefante Green Gold™ Pineapple at the top to create the layered "candy corn" look.
Gently press the fruit pieces together and trim as needed so they form a cohesive triangle.
To serve, stick the skewers upright in florist foam or Styrofoam OR display them on a platter lined with Halloween-themed decorations like fake spider webs, plastic spiders, or black napkins to enhance the spooky vibe. You can also serve these with a light yogurt dip flavored with a hint of honey or citrus to complement the fruity sweetness.
Recipe Note
Start with larger cuts of fruit to allow for trimming the final “candy corn” into the desired shape. Save leftover fruit scrapes for smoothies!
