This melon is well known to most and can be quickly identified by its roughly netted, green skin. Cut into it, and you'll discover a sticky orange flesh with a floral musky aroma. This fruit has high water content, making them an excellent resource for hydration on hot days. Not only are these melons tasty by themselves, but when paired with savory counterparts and sweet complements, their flavor is taken to the next level.
Buying and storing: Choose those that feel heavy for their size and are free of bruises or cracks. Melissa's Organic Cantaloupes are fragrant when ripe, and blossom end will give slightly to gentle pressure. If unripe, ripen at room temperature (uncut) up to four days. Once cut, refrigerate in an airtight container two to three days.
