Melissa’s Coconuts are best used only for their sweet, flaky meat, which is delicious eaten out of hand or as an essential ingredient in baked goods, curries, Thai food, beverages and desserts.

The water in mature brown coconuts is not intended for drinking. Do not purchase brown coconuts for the coconut water. Using the Melissa’s Coconut Opener, pierce the softest of the coconut’s “eyes” (brown circles on the top of the coconut) to drain the water and discard.

For fresh coconut water, use Melissa’s Sweet Young Coconuts, which are prized for their refreshing, nutritious water.
