Crispy Chili Garlic Tofu Puffs – golden tofu bites tossed in a bold, sticky chili garlic glaze. Easy to make, packed with flavor, and totally addictive!
1 block extra-firm Melissa’s tofu (frozen, then thawed)
2 tbsp corn or potato starch
Neutral oil (for frying or air frying)
2–3 tbsp chili garlic sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp lime juice
1 tsp sugar (optional)
1 clove garlic, grated
Sesame seeds for garnish
Prep tofu by pressing and tearing into bite-size chunks for max surface area.
Toss tofu in corn starch or potato starch until well coated.
Fry in hot oil or airfry at 400°F until golden and crispy (about 10–15 min).
For the sauce, in a hot pan, stir together chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, and sugar.
Add crispy tofu to sauce, coat until sticky.
Garnish with sesame seeds. Serve hot.
Texture hack: Freeze then thaw tofu before cooking for that spongy, meat-like bite.
