An easy baked dessert for all apple lovers.
3 lbs. apples; peeled, cored and cut into ½ inch thick slices. (Green Dragon® Apples or Granny Smith Apples)
½ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Juice from ½ lemon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes
2 Tablespoons bourbon (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl combine apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract and bourbon (if using). Toss until evenly coated.
Spread mixture into a 2-quart baking dish. Place butter cubes over the top of the apples.
Bake for 30 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring halfway through.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
