Serve warm, alone, or over your favorite cake or frozen dessert!
1 cup red wine, full bodied
1 cup water
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 stick canela (cinnamon sticks)
1/2 pound dried prunes
1/2 pound dried apricots
Lemon peel of 1/2 lemon
In a saucepan, place the wine, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon peel. Bring to a boil, then simmer 5 minutes.
Add the prunes and apricots, cover, and simmer 15 minutes more.
Turn off the heat and let the fruit sit at least 2-3 hours in the syrup.
