Summer Celebrations & Father’s Day

Grilling Essentials

Father’s Day is a nationwide celebration honoring fathers and father figures, first established in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. Inspired by her father, a Civil War veteran who raised six children on his own, she created a tradition that continues today. Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, on June 21, 2026, and became a permanent national holiday in 1972.

Celebrate your favorite dad by spoiling him. Offer to take over a few chores and plan a memorable meal packed with bold, grill-ready flavor. Check out Melissa’s Father’s Day essentials for inspiration.

Dads and grilling go hand in hand. Take it beyond the usual with Melissa’s fresh fruits and vegetables on the grill. Portobello mushrooms, artichokes, and Asian vegetables develop rich, smoky flavor, while Pinkglow® pineapples, mango, peaches, and nectarines caramelize beautifully. Add Melissa’s Hatch Pepper Powder or Chile Lime Seasoning for an extra kick, and don’t forget ready-to-grill favorites like Soyrizo® and Soy Taco® for plant-based options.

Round out the meal with colorful sides. Serve fresh fruit skewers alongside burgers, chicken, or veggie dogs, and add grilled corn finished with Hatch seasoning. Build a vibrant salad with Melissa’s baby greens, radicchio, arugula, and watercress, then toss with cucumber slices, steamed baby beets, artichoke hearts, and vine-ripened tomatoes. Finish with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and a sprinkle of Melissa’s seasonings. For a heartier option, add Melissa’s Cooked Quinoa, couscous, or chilled pasta.

Incorporating Melissa’s organic fruits and vegetables makes it easy to create fresh, flavorful summer meals. Aim for five servings a day and take advantage of peak-season varieties to keep menus exciting. Snack-ready favorites like Clean Snax®, coconut packs, and fresh-cut fruit make healthy eating simple for the whole family.

June 21st is also the summer solstice and the official start of summer. Longer days mean more time for outdoor gatherings, beach trips, and backyard entertainment.

Cool off with refreshing aguas frescas made with Melissa’s Pinkglow® pineapple, watermelon, grapes, peaches, plums, or nectarines. Add a splash of citrus or a hint of ginger syrup for a flavor boost.

Summer melons are in full swing. Watermelon, honeydew, and Charentais are sweet, hydrating, and perfect for warm days. Keep them sliced and ready for after-swim snacks, barbecue sides, or light breakfasts. Elevate your presentation with Melissa’s fruit medleys or pair melons with prosciutto, fresh herbs, or a drizzle of hot honey. June is also peak season for berries and stone fruit. Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, and nectarines are at their best, perfect for snacking, baking, grilling, or topping desserts. Add Melissa’s dessert sauces or a sprinkle of chile-lime seasoning for a sweet-heat twist.

Bask in the best of summer with Melissa’s freshest fruits and vegetables and make every gathering a celebration of flavor.
