The air is crisp, the days are shorter, and fall has officially arrived. Fall is the season of comfort cooking; warm spices, hearty vegetables, and cozy meals take center stage. It’s also the perfect time to bring the vibrant harvest flavors into your kitchen, from sweet winter squash and crisp apples to earthy root vegetables and hearty potatoes.

With the change of seasons, your menu can transform, too. Roast Melissa’s Butternut or Kabocha Squash for velvety soups, stuff Acorn Squash with grains and herbs for a show-stopping side or whip up a warm apple crisp with Honeycrisp™ or Pink Lady® Apples. For easy weeknight dinners, Melissa’s Baby Dutch Yellow® Potatoes and rainbow carrots roast beautifully with chicken or salmon, while Hatch Peppers (sub–Hatch Pepper Powder) bring a subtle heat to fall stews and casseroles.

Looking for quick ways to embrace fall flavors? Keep things simple with a tray of roasted root veggies drizzled in olive oil, a salad topped with pomegranate arils and roasted Delicata Squash, or a comforting pot of pumpkin or sweet potato soup. These dishes warm up chilly evenings and make the most of the rich, seasonal produce filling the markets right now.

Fall is a reminder to slow down, savor the season, and celebrate the comforting, colorful flavors it brings; you can create hearty, wholesome meals that make every fall day a little more delicious-whether you’re cozying up at home or hosting a festive gathering.

Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is celebrated the first and second days of Tishri. This year, it begins September 22nd at sundown and concludes September 24th  at sundown. It is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet-tasting foods. Rosh Hashanah begins a 10-day period, known as the High Holy Days or Yamim Nora'im, a time of penitence and prayer that ends with Yom Kippur. Jews worldwide are given these 10 days to repent for their sins and ask G-d for forgiveness.

Rosh Hashanah is widely known and celebrated as the New Year’s Day of the Jewish calendar, but actually, Rosh Hashanah has a fourfold meaning: It is the Jewish New Year, the Day of Judgment, the Day of Remembrance, and the Day of Shofar Blowing.

• It is the Day of Judgment:
As Jews worldwide examine their past deeds and asks for forgiveness for their sins.
• It is the Day of Shofar Blowing
The Shofar (the ram’s horn) is blown in the temple to herald the beginning of the 10-day period known as the High Holy Days.
• It is the Day of Remembrance
As Jews review the history of their people and pray for Israel.
• And of course, it is New Year's Day
Celebrated with its holiday greeting cards, special prayers and festive, sweet foods to ensure sweetness in the New Year.
