Xoconostle is a type of cactus fruit native to Central Mexico. It is small, oval-shaped and filled with small edible seeds and juicy, tart, acidic flesh that is often used in traditional Mexican cuisine such as sauces, salsa and agua fresca. Additionally, it can be used to make jellies, jams and chutneys.

To prepare, peel and scoop the seeds, then use raw or cooked for the desired recipe.
