Considered a delicacy by many, White Asparagus is a delicious treat. Melissa’s White Asparagus features a more mild and less pronounced flavor, compared to the green variety. It is less grassy with just a tiny hint of bitterness.
This variety is grown underground and covered with soil to keep the sun’s rays out. This prevents photosynthesis and the development of chlorophyll—the green color found in regular asparagus.
White Asparagus can be enjoyed both hot or cold. Try them broiled, baked or grilled with just a bit of seasoning, butter or cheese. Or add them to a green salad or bean salad for extra crunch. You can even pair them with our Hollandaise sauce for a scrumptious appetizer!
Melissa’s White Asparagus should be firm to the touch with compact tips. It will keep for up to seven days in the refrigerator wrapped in a wet paper towel. Serve promptly for best flavor.
