Melissa’s Organic Chard is available in three varieties: red, green, and rainbow. The red or rhubarb variety has a slightly stronger flavor than either the green or rainbow.
The stalks have a crisp, delicate, celery-like flavor but work well in recipes calling for asparagus. The leaves are often used like spinach and when left raw, impart a beet-like flavor. Organic Chard is preferred for its superior taste, health advantages, and low environmental impact.
For a quick and simple dish, heat with olive oil, garlic, and some crushed red pepper. After covering for about 10 minutes, add butter and salt to taste.
Melissa’s Organic Chards are hand-selected for excellent quality. Look for bunches with fresh glossy leaves, good color, and crisp stalks.
