Jujubes can be multi-colored and may vary in hue from light green to reddish-brown to dark brown, and will wrinkle as they ripen, much like a passion fruit.

The jujube originated in China where they have been cultivated for more than 4,000 years. Round to oblong in shape with a spongy, sweet-tasting pulp, they can be very difficult to find in stores. Now that they’re available directly from Melissa's, you won't have to look anywhere else!

Jujubes can be multi-colored and may vary in hue from light green to reddish-brown to dark brown, and will wrinkle as they ripen, much like a passion fruit. A thin, edible skin surrounds a delicious white flesh, which is crisp like an apple and has a mildly sweet flavor.

Jujubes are usually eaten raw after they’ve ripened, but can also be used in desserts and baked goods. They are also good dried and used in place of raisins or dried figs or candied. The fruit we select for this exclusive offering is chosen from the freshest varieties available.

Melissa's Jujube's should be stored in the refrigerator for maximum freshness. Choose jujubes that are slightly firm and unblemished, they should be heavy for their size and unwrinkled.
