Similar to bell peppers these peppers have no heat, but are much sweeter. These delicious peppers are great used as vegetable sticks, stuffed or chopped in salads.

Bold in color, this pepper is a true charmer with vibrant, varied hues of green-orange to shades of scarlet-orange when mature. This pepper visually resembles a cross between a bell and a jalapeño, featuring a wide cavity with a tapered end, clocking in around four to six inches in length.

On the heat side of things, Gypsy Peppers are more like bells in the sense that they have no heat whatsoever, and are about 2,500 to 8,00 times milder than a jalapeño. People pick this pepper for its sweetness, which is a big differentiator between Gypsys and bell peppers.

Culinarily speaking, use this pepper like you would any other sweet pepper. The thin walls make them great for frying, and the wide cavity begs to be stuffed. You can also just simply eat these raw with your favorite hummus! Melissa's Peeled & Steamed Chickpeas are the perfect ingredient to create your own fresh hummus at home. Gypsy Peppers from Melissa's are hand-selected for excellent quality. When buying fresh peppers, choose firm, heavy, smooth-skinned Gypsys that are dry. You can store fresh peppers wrapped in a paper towel in the crisper section of the refrigerator for two to three weeks or more.
