This round to oval shaped subtropical fruit is actually classified as a berry. The edible skin is light green to yellow in color and the flesh is a creamy white. The small, crunchy seeds are edible but usually discarded.
Guavas are mildly sweet while the fruit itself is very fragrant. They can be eaten fresh, juiced, or used in desserts, preserves, or sauces.
They have a two week shelf life if refrigerated at 32º - 48ºF. Shelf life is about a week if left at room temperature.
