D’Anjou Pears have short tapering necks without distinct shoulders, almost egg-shaped. They have a yellow green skin, which does not change color even when ripe. Despite their appearance, this is a rich, juicy fruit with a sweet flesh and buttery, slightly gritty texture.
Because of their superbly rich flavor D’Anjou pears are great for eating out of hand or in addition to salads, but are also suitable baked, roasted, or poached.
