Think of Melissa's Tuscan Melon as cantaloupe's more sophisticated cousin. Oval-shaped and dressed in a beautifully dense, ropey netting with distinctive green-striped grooves, Tuscans have an unmistakably rustic, old-world charm. Look for grooves that are vibrant and green, a reliable sign that melons are at their peak.
Slice open a Tuscan Melon and you'll find concentrated, deeply orange flesh around a tight seed cavity. Tuscan Melons are rich, juicy, and stunning in color, but what really sets them apart is their exceptional sweetness; with a higher-than-average sugar content, every bite delivers a lush, honeyed flavor that's both indulgent and refreshing. Seeds are inedible and should be discarded.
Melissa's Tuscan Melon is endlessly versatile. Enjoy simply sliced and chilled, or pair Tuscans with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and basil for a classic Italian-inspired dish. Tuscan Melon is equally at home on brunch spreads, blended into a chilled soup, or finished with a squeeze of lime and a pinch of Melissa’s Chile Lime Seasoning for a bold seasonal snack.
Store whole, uncut Tuscan Melon at room temperature until ripe, then refrigerate. Once cut, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–5 days.
