Texas Sweet Grapefruit is grown in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, one of the premier grapefruit-growing regions in the United States. The warm climate and mineral-rich soil of the Rio Grande Valley produce fruit with exceptional sweetness and deep red color.
Compared to other grapefruit varieties, Texas Sweet Grapefruit have a thinner rind, lighter pith, and richer flesh that can range from rose to deep ruby in color.
Texas Sweet Grapefruit are lower in the bitter compounds that give other grapefruit their acidic edge, making them more approachable. They have a bright and citrusy flavor, with a honeyed sweetness and just enough tartness to keep things balanced.
Texas Sweet Grapefruit shine in both sweet and savory applications. Halve and enjoy them with a spoon, or cut into segments and add to salads, salsas, and grain bowls. Their deep color and sweetness make them a great ingredient for topping yogurt and desserts, or juicing for cocktails and mocktails.
