Melissa's delicious creamed pearl onions and roasted baby red potatoes are an all-time favorite for these holidays. Even our black-eyed peas make a great dip or side dish... healthy and low-fat, too. Veterans Day is November 11. It is a day to celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. It is a day of family gatherings and is observed throughout the United States. Family picnics are popular filled with homemade comfort foods like potato salads, roasts and casseroles. Melissa's offers you all the ingredients you need to celebrate our veterans with your family.

Thanksgiving is November 26, 2009 this year. Time to start planning the menu for the family feast... Start with making fun appetizers like simple Melba toast rounds topped with Melissa's Sun Dried Tomato pesto mixed with cream cheese. Everyone will love it and it is fast and simple to make. Prepare your turkey early in the morning and cook it all day to get the aroma in the air. Use a turkey "bag" to insure a moist turkey and it basically takes care of itself (no basting). You can even toss your veggies in the bag with the turkey. Use plenty of fingerlings, carrots and even pearl or boiler onions to serve as a tasty side dish. Fresh cranberry sauce and fresh mashed potatoes will be perfect sides, along with the green bean casserole that everyone loves and looks forward to every holiday season. Serve a delicious salad with al the fixin’s; croutons, dried cranberries, organic walnuts and loads of fresh veggies! Make is simple and easy, but tasty and filling.
