Simply put, this cool-climate California Syrah from Donelan is absolutely stunning. Inky, powerful and intense, this 2014 vintage is a unique composition of 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier, that’s been aged in oak for 21 months. With only 508 cases produced, each bottle is a gift.
The rich aromas from the glass are generous with white pepper, sage, apricot, gooseberries, white peaches and chutney. A desirable minerality makes the mid-palate sing for another sip on the creamy finish. From take-out gyros to holiday dinners, the wine pairs well on many levels. Needless to say, the drinking experience is fitting for wine from Russian River Valley appellation, also known as the geographical heart of Sonoma County.
You’ll find Kobler Family Vineyard on a slightly elevated ridge along the eastern border of Green Valley, a location defined by cool temperatures, fog and afternoon breezes.
