Unrefined pure cane sugar shaped in cones; used in desserts and to sweeten coffee. Melissa's special piloncillo sugar cones can be used in meringues, syrups, ice cream, sherbet, glazes, pastries and candies and is an essential ingredient in many foods. Sugar is extracted from sugar cane by crushing it soon after harvest.
The cane juice is then processed in a variety of ways. Unrefined pure cane sugar, in the form of cones is known as Piloncillo. Piloncillo from Don Enrique® is the Spanish name for Brown Sugar Cones.
Especially popular in Mexican dessert dishes, Piloncillo from Don Enrique® can be used to sweeten many favorite meals and even coffee.
The equivalent of 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, one Piloncillo cone can be used to adjust the texture and taste of many foods and works very well when combined with cinnamon.
Piloncillo from Don Enrique® is hand packed for excellent quality. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. When correctly stored, Melissa's Piloncillo will keep indefinitely.
Piloncillo from Don Enrique® can be cooked (see recipe below) and added to any favorite recipe. One Piloncillo cone from Don Enrique® is the equivalent of 3/4 cup packed brown sugar.
