Our Response to COVID-19
Dear Friends and Family,
During these uncertain times, we are honored with the responsibility to be called upon by so many to continue providing a fresh supply of fruits and vegetables.
As we uphold this responsibility, the safety of our associates and our products has and will always be the top priority. We have made necessary adjustments during this pandemic, and have prepared our business to respond in a flexible way; we are prepared to refine business response plans as needed.
To reduce the potential of spreading coronavirus, many of our associates are working from home during this time. Physical presence is critical to our daily operations for several associates, ensuring product moves in and out of our warehouse in a timely, safe and efficient manner. We are operating with an abundance of caution to provide a safe work environment for all involved. Even though our normal warehouse cleaning and sanitizing methods are above what is necessary, we have updated our methods to prevent cross-contamination and worker-to-worker spread. We have a strict adherence to best practices for conducting social distancing, and we are making sure that no associate works while sick.
We are in cooperation with state and local health officials, as well as recommendations outlined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) so that the most up to date information can continue to guide the appropriate responses from our business. The CDC, as well as global public health experts, say there is no evidence that fresh produce can transmit the virus.
Our hearts go out to those who have been directly and indirectly affected by the virus. Take comfort in knowing that there will continue to be a fresh supply of fruits and vegetables from Melissa’s. There is no need to frenzy shop or hoard supplies. We are working around the clock to be a reliable resource for our customers and our communities during this difficult time.
