Apple Pie with Organic Fuji Apples

Apple Pie with Organic Fuji Apples

4 or 5 Organic Apples (Fuji apples) peeled cored and sliced
3/4 cup Sugar granulated
2 tablespoons Flour
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1 pinch Salt
2 tablespoons Butter cut into small pieces
2 each Pie Shells or Pie Crust (unbaked - frozen) 9 inch

In a large bowl combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt; let stand 15 minutes. Line a 9 inch pie pan with one of the unbaked pie shells. Set the second shell out to thaw enough to cut, about 20 minutes.

Fill first frozen pie shell with apple mixture; top with butter pieces. Cover with the second thawed shell. Trim edges, by pressing against edge of pan. Cut off any excess pie dough.

Make 4 slits on top of dough to allow steam to escape. Bake in a 400°F oven for 30 minutes, until crust is lightly golden in color. Lower oven temperature to 350°F and continue to bake for approximately 30 minutes, until juices bubble and crust is a deep golden brown.

Transfer pie to a cooling rack. Cool at least 2 hours before serving.
