Cilantro is sometimes referred to as "the world’s most widely used herb." Its hardy flavor and aroma makes it a favorite of Latin, Asian, Indian, and Caribbean cooking.

Melissa's Organic Cilantro (also known as Mexican parsley or Chinese parsley) is dark green with lacy leaves.

These are organically grown in accordance with the 1990 California Organic Foods Act. Each and every Melissa's label reads: "Melissa's Certified Organic Produce is free of artificial or synthetic fertilizers and full of unforgettable, great tasting flavor. Our farmers use traditional earth-friendly farming methods inspected by a nationally recognized agency to verify organic authenticity. Melissa's Organic Produce, a choice made closer to nature."

Organic Cilantro is preferred for their superiority in taste, and benefits to health, as well as the environment. They add an added kick to salsa, guacamole, curried dishes, and mixed green salads.

In May 2004, researchers reported that a compound in cilantro kills the harmful Salmonella bacteria, a frequent and sometimes deadly cause of food poisoning.

Melissa’s Organic Cilantro is hand-selected for excellent quality. Choose fresh looking cilantro with even color and an aromatic scent. Avoid any yellow spots, or wilted stems or leaves. Use soon after purchase.

To keep fresh, refrigerate in a securely closed plastic bag filled with air. Store in the vegetable crisper section of the refrigerator.

If leaves do become wilted, an ice water bath can revive them. Place Cilantro stem side down in a jar of water (similar to fresh flowers) and cover with a tightly closed plastic bag.

Store away from natural ripening fruits vegetables like tomatoes, bananas, and peppers. Organic produce should not be stacked with non-organic produce.
