Basil and Olive Pizza
An Original Recipe by Melissa's
Preparation In the bowl of a mixer fitted with a dough hook, proof the yeast by combining it with the warm water and sugar. Stir gently to dissolve. Let stand five minutes. Turn the mixer on low, slowly add the flour to the bowl, dissolve the salt in two tablespoons of water and add to the mixture. Pour in 1/4 cup of olive oil, when the dough starts to form increase the speed to medium, mix for ten minutes. Form the dough into a ball and place in an oiled bowl, also oil the ball so it doesn't develop a film, cover until doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Flatten the dough onto an oiled sheet pan. Brush the pasta sauce onto the dough, leaving a 1 inch crust around the edges. Layer the basil, mozzarella and olives on top of the pasta sauce. Bake in a 400 degree oven until the cheese is melted and the crust is browned, about 15 to 20 minutes. |
