Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Canola Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1 medium Maui Onions or Sweet Onion diced
  • 2 Fire Roasted Chiles diced
  • 1 package Soy Taco
  • 1 small can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 small can Tomato Sauce (Mexican Hot Style)
  • Hamburger Buns

Directions

In a large sauce pan, heat the oil and melt the butter. Add the onions and cook until they are slightly caramelized. Next add the chiles and sauté for about 2 or 3 minutes while stirring. Stir in the soy taco and continue cooking. Keep the mixture moving so that it doesn't stick to the pan and burn. Cook until heated through. Add the 2 cans of sauce and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook, uncovered, until sauce begins to thicken. Serve hot on hamburger buns.

Note:

I like to add some freshly grated cheese on mine right after I get the mixture onto the bun so that the cheese melts and gets gooey.
