Ingredients
- 1 pound Organic Yellow Onion thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 12 ounces Organic Tofu (use Firm Tofu) sliced in 4 1/4 inch slices
- 2/3 cup Spicy Barbecue Sauce
- 4 Sandwich Rolls or Buns
- 1 large Organic Tomatoes thinly sliced
- 8 Organic Leaf Lettuce
Directions
Sauté sliced onions in butter over medium-high heat until very brown, even slightly scorched in places.
Brush the bottom of another skillet with oil and heat to almost smoking over medium heat. Lightly coat the tofu with barbecue sauce and carefully place in the heated skillet, being mindful of splatter. Cook until the il the bottom side looks slightly charred. Turn over and cook until slightly charred on the other side.
Place the tofu and onions on the rolls or buns, along with the lettuce and tomatoes. Add other condiments if you like. Serve immediately.
