Ingredients
Topping
- 1 1/4 cups Old-Fashioned Oats
- 1 cup Brown Sugar plus 2 tablespoons
- 3/4 cup Walnuts
- 3/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 1/2 sticks Unsalted Butter (cold) cut into small pieces
Filling
- 4 pounds Organic Apples (use Granny Smith or Pippin Apples) peeled cored and sliced OR
- 3 pounds Organic Apples sliced and 1 1/4 cups Blackberries OR
- 4 pounds or 4 cups ripe and firm Organic Peaches
- Organic Blueberries and 2 teaspoons Grated Lemon Zest
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice (use Lemon Juice)
- 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
- 3/4 teaspoon Canela (Cinnamon Sticks)
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
Vanilla Ice Cream for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
To make the topping
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the oats, brown sugar, walnuts, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter and, using a pastry blender or your fingers, mix until course crumbs form. Refrigerate until ready to use.
To Make the Filling
In a large mixing bowl, toss the fruit, sugar, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, and ginger.
Transfer the fruit filling to the prepared baking dish. Spread the topping over the filling. Bake 50 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
