Michael Baumgart
Executive Chef, Chef Instructor
Los Angeles Culinary Institute
Early Years
Chef Baumgart became a European Certified Master Chef at the young age of 27. He brings more than 12 years of experience to the Los Angeles Culinary Institute (LACI) where he is in charge of Classical French and International Cuisine. His culinary career has taken him throughout Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. Chef Baumgart ventured to the United States in 1994 and his desire to teach brought him to his current position with the LACI.
Current Projects
In addition to teaching fellow instructors in Classical European principles, he also supervises the Institute's hands-on Apprentice Program. The Los Angeles Culinary Institute, located at 17815 Ventura Boulevard in Encino, California, offers an 18-month Professional Culinary Arts Program and a variety of half day cooking and baking classes. In addition, an on-site restaurant is open to the public during weekends. Chef Baumgart believes that "the combination of cooking and teaching is the best of both worlds".
