Uses:
Green Onions are immature onions, pulled from the ground while the tops are still green and before a prominent bulb has formed. They are also called spring onions or scallions. Melissa’s Organic Green Onions have a mildly sweet flavor and soft skin. The green stalks taste like chive and the two can be used interchangeably. Each and every Melissa's label reads: "Melissa's Certified Organic Produce is free of artificial or synthetic fertilizers and full of unforgettable, great tasting flavor. Our farmers use traditional earth-friendly farming methods inspected by a nationally recognized agency to verify organic authenticity. Melissa's Organic Produce, a choice made closer to nature." Green onions are a great-tasting finishing touch to salads, casseroles, stir-fries, soups, and baked potatoes, and are a common ingredient in Asian recipes.
Selection, Storage & Handling:
Melissa’s Organic Green Onions are hand selected for excellent quality. Look for onions that have fresh and crisp green tops, and clean white bottoms with a firm texture. Keep green onions in plastic bags in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator for one week. Once cut, tightly wrap any unused onion in plastic, refrigerate and use within four days. Organic produce should not be stacked with non-organic produce.
