Uses
Melissa's Ambrosia Apples have the general conical shape of their relatives, the red delicious and golden delicious apples, but everything else about them is completely different. Ambrosias are well named; they are a delight to look at, to touch, to bite into and to savor. Their skin is smooth, with a bright, almost iridescent pink blush over a creamy yellow background. Their flesh is creamy, tender, and juicy, with a very fine, crisp texture. Melissa's Ambrosia Apples are a sweet, low-acid apple, with a fragrant, pleasing aroma. Because this variety oxidizes very slowly, they are perfect for using in fruit salads or on cheese platters at large gatherings where they will retain their beautiful cream colored flesh.
Selection, Storage & Handling
High flavored apples will be well colored, with a firm, smooth skin. Store Ambrosia apples in the refrigerator and keep handling to a minimum to avoid bruising.
