Uses:
This German heirloom variety looks like a large strawberry. These clustered, vine-ripened fruits are very meaty, with thick walls and core but very few seeds. The flavor is intense and leaves a very pleasant after-taste. Because of minimal interior gel, this is a great slicing tomato. The lack of seeds also makes it a fantastic sauce tomato. Excellent shelf life compared to other kinds of tomatoes. Product of California.
Selection, Storage & Handling:
Select tomatoes that firm and bright in color, with no bruises or overripe softness. Vines should be bright green and pliable. The most flavorful fruit will have a rich tomato aroma. Store fresh tomatoes in a cool, dark place, and use within a few days. Tomatoes should not be refrigerated; it nullifies flavor and turns the interior mealy.
