Uses:
The California grown Orange Sherbet Melon is a hybrid Tuscan type melon, native to the Mediterranean. It has a round to oval shape, with a bright orange interior fruit that is extremely aromatic. This high sugar variety certainly lives up to its name, providing a deeply robust melon flavor that makes the Sherbet one of the best eating melons of the entire season.
Selection, Storage, & Handling:
Stem end should be round and smooth with no stem pieces still attached; a smooth cut end generally means it was harvested at the proper time. When ready to eat, the skin of this variety becomes velvety to the touch. Uncut, this melon will become juicier if left at room temperature. Refrigerate any unused portion for up to five days.
