Uses
Farro is a highly nutritious whole grain of the Mediterranean that was a favorite in ancient Egypt as well as the Roman Empire. It has recently regained its culinary popularity, especially in the famed Tuscany region of Italy. The grain has a rich, nutty flavor and chewy bite. Farro is a relatively quick-cooking grain, taking only about 35 minutes of simmering to prepare. Use it in recipes calling for rice or barley. A very versatile ingredient, Farro matches well with array of other flavors, supporting without overpowering.
Selection, Storage & Handling
Store farro in sealed plastic or glass containers in a cool, dark, dry pantry. The grain will stay fresh for about one year.
