Uses

Melissa’s Organic Chard is available in three varieties: red, green, and rainbow. The red or rhubarb variety has a slightly stronger flavor than either the green or rainbow. The stalks have a crisp, delicate, celery-like flavor but work well in recipes calling for asparagus. The leaves are often used like spinach and when left raw, impart a beet-like flavor. Organic Chard is preferred for its superior taste, health advantages, and low environmental impact. For a quick and simple dish, heat with olive oil, garlic, and some crushed red pepper. After covering for about 10 minutes, add butter and salt to taste.

Selection, Storage & Handling

Melissa’s Organic Chards are hand-selected for excellent quality. Look for bunches with fresh glossy leaves, good color, and crisp stalks.
