Uses
Although mainstream America perceives bell peppers as vegetables, they are actually fruits. But in either case, all sweet peppers are characterized by their thick flesh, bright skin color, and fairly sweet flavor. Melissa's Organic Bell Peppers offer different flavors, varying colors, and a multitude of uses. They are organically grown in accordance with the 1990 California Organic Foods Act. Each and every Melissa's label reads: "Melissa's Certified Organic Produce is free of artificial or synthetic fertilizers and full of unforgettable, great tasting flavor. Our farmers use traditional earth-friendly farming methods inspected by a nationally recognized agency to verify organic authenticity. Melissa's Organic Produce, a choice made closer to nature." Organic Bell Peppers are preferred for taste, health, and environmental reasons. Serve Melissa's Organic Bell Peppers raw in salads or with a dip, as an easy appetizer. They can also be easily cooked and incorporated into omelets, soups, stews, or pizza.
Selection, Storage & Handling
Good quality peppers should be firm, fresh looking, and brightly colored. Avoid peppers that appear shriveled, dull looking, or pitted. Keep unwashed peppers refrigerated for about one week. Organic produce should not be stacked with non-organic produce.
