Uses
Hearts of palm come from the center of Panama palm trees. These palm trees are grown specifically for the purpose of obtaining the unique delicious core. These slender, cream-colored stalks closely resemble white asparagus - minus the tips and taste similar to an artichoke. Extremely perishable, Melissa’s Hearts of Palm are a very common dish in South America. Serve in main dishes, green salads, as a cold hors d’oeuvre served with a vinaigrette sauce or hot with a plain or cheese béchamel sauce.
