Uses
A new hybrid kumquat variety developed in Japan, this fruit is larger than the standard kumquat, though still measure only 2-3 inches, with a slightly more oval shape. The sweet rind ranges in color from light gold to a deep orange. The fruit does have a few small, edible seeds and provides a pleasantly tart flavor that plays well off of the sweetness of its rind. The entire fruit is edible whole as a hand snack or makes an excellent ingredient in stuffings, cakes, and muffins. Product of California.
Selection, Storage and Handling
Look for fruit that is blemish free with no scarring or leaf rub. If offered with leaves and stem, both should be bright and fresh green with no dried out stems. Store all perishable fresh fruit in the refrigerator until ready to use.
