Uses:
One of the newest citrus varieties on the market, the Desert Gold Mandarin is medium large in size with a bumpy, loose skin that is easy to peel. This fruit is seedless and juicy sweet. Grown exclusively for Melissa’s in the Southern California desert, Desert Gold Mandarins have a very short season in February. Truly one of nature’s winter delights!
Selection, Storage & Handling
Tangerines should be firm (with some give to the skin) and heavy for their size. Choose glossy skinned fruit with a fresh aroma. Keep refrigerated for longer shelf life.
Cross merchandise with Gold Nugget and Murcott Mandarins. Also display with other varieties of citrus including kumquats, Minneola, Meyer lemons, and Key limes.
