Uses
The Fuji Apple was “born” in Japan. Only recently have they come to the United States but they are quickly becoming a favorite. Fuji Apples offer the color, juice and firmness of a Red Delicious and the heirloom flavor of a Ralls Janet. With Melissa’s they are even better because they are certified organic in accordance with the 2001 National Organic Program Standards (USDA). Melissa's Organic label reads: "Melissa's Certified Organic Produce is free of artificial or synthetic fertilizers and full of unforgettable, great tasting flavor. Our farmers use traditional earth-friendly farming methods inspected by a nationally recognized agency to verify organic authenticity. Melissa's Organic Produce, a choice made closer to nature." Organic Fuji Apples are better for your taste buds, your health, and the environment. These are excellent for eating fresh or adding to salads, as well as for making pies or sauces.
Selection, Storage & Handling
Melissa's Organic Fuji Apples are hand-selected for excellent quality. Choose firm, smooth yellow-orange apples with a golden blush and avoid bruising. Refrigerate unwashed apples in a perforated plastic bag for up to four months. Apples kept out of refrigeration tend to become mealy. Organic produce should not be stacked with non-organic produce.
