There are certain signs from Mother Nature that let you know that even she is ready for the lazy days of summer! Beginning with the smell of fresh cut grass, to smelling the buds and blossoms on the trees, Melissa's Flavorosa Plumcots bring you a sweet, juicy taste to enjoy during their short season.
Highly regarded as the most flavorful of the plumcot family, plumcots are a hybrid of 75% plum and 25% apricot, now commonly known as a Plumcot. Flavorosa Plumcots have a rich, dark skin that protects a gorgeous burgundy flesh with hints of plum, cherry, pomegranate and honey. In fact, Flavorosa Plumcots get their name for their incredibly sweet flesh that has a brix unit of 18+ (meaning it is super sweet, with very low acidity).
But just like the buds and blossoms on the trees, Flavorosa's are with us just a short time each year. It is best to enjoy these gifts from Mother Nature just as soon as she is ready.
Like all Melissa's stone fruits, Flavorosa Plumcots can be enjoyed in a variety of ways; sliced and included in salads, with quinoa, baked, or even grilled.
Selection, Storage & Handling:
Look for fairly firm, smooth, plump, well-formed fruit with no scarring. Plumcots ripen quickly, and have the potential to become over-ripe if they have been out of refrigeration.
We recommend that you always refrigerate them until you are ready to enjoy. If properly refrigerated, plumcots should last up to 5 days.
