Uses:
This round squash comes in many different colors, ranging from green to beige to light red-orange. The Calabaza Squash has been extremely popular throughout the Caribbean as well as in Central and South America. This beauty has a sweet, butternut-like flavor with a firm texture. Delicious when prepared as you would any hard squash. The delicious flesh can be baked or steamed, topped with butter and herbs.
Selection, Storage & Handling:
When selecting Melissa’s Calabaza Squash, look for squash that is heavy for its size with the stem still attached. Choose Calabaza that has dull skin and is free from spots or bruises. Store in a cool, dark place for up to one month. Cut squash should be wrapped and refrigerated for no longer than a week.
