Uses
This radish variety is new to the U.S. marketplace. The Bordeaux Radish has an attractive purple hue exterior with a white interior streaked with the same purple coloring. Its taste is quite mild with a very subtle peppery heat aftertaste compared to a standard Red Globe radish. Like all other purple fruits and vegetables, the Bordeaux radish contains beneficial antioxidants. Grate these tasty radishes into pasta or bean salads for a slightly different taste and texture or include them raw on vegetable platters for an unusual splash of bright color.
Selection, Storage and Handling
When selecting radishes look for pieces with good size and bright color with smooth, unblemished surface. The small roots should be firm and not shriveled. Avoid radishes that are soft or spongy. Refrigerate whole in a plastic bag for up to two weeks. Freezing is not recommended.
