Cooking With The Kids

Healthy Tortizzas

While the competing schedules of today’s busy modern family make it difficult to share a home cooked meal together, it is not impossible with a little planning and can even be fun.

Sautéed Beet Greens With Fresh Garlic Olive Oil and Persian Lime

Don’t toss those beet tops out! These undiscovered leafy greens are not only edible, but have a fabulous flavor reminiscent of their culinary cousin, Swiss chard. But, these greens have a distinct edge —their stems are so tender you can forgo the labor-intensive step of stripping the tough rib from the leaf. The only prep work this lusty green requires is a quick rinse and a rough chop.

When I was growing up, I remember that after each little league game we would get a quarter to buy something from the snack shack, which usually consisted of some sort of chips, soda or candy.

Cinco de Mayo and Mothers Day 2009

    Two great celebrations!

  • Positively Ageless

    Avocados and Good Fats

We love reading diet books, almost as much as we love eating. High fiber, low fat, low carb and sugar-busting diets abound.

  • The Produce Corner

    Jicama Reminder

Recently I served dinner guests a main course that included a tropical salsa as a component of the main entrée.
